About the role

Swedish Candy Culture is looking for a hands-on Store Manager to take responsibility for daily store operations. You’ll oversee staffing, scheduling, inventory, ordering, cleanliness, and sales performance while regularly working alongside the team on the sales floor and register. Your product responsibilities begin when deliveries arrive at the store: ensuring products are checked, unpacked, accurately recorded in inventory, and organized. You’ll keep shelves and candy bins stocked and make sure new products reach the sales floor promptly. You’ll work closely with the owners on hiring, store priorities, and performance, while taking ownership of everyday decisions and keeping the store ready for business.

Responsibilities

  • Staffing and team leadership
  • Create, publish, and maintain schedules for all store employees using Homebase, accounting for employee availability, business needs, and approved labor budgets.
  • Ensure every shift has appropriate coverage, including opening preparation, customer-facing hours, closing, and employee breaks.
  • Coordinate time-off requests, shift swaps, and call-outs, and arrange backup coverage when needed.
  • Plan staffing ahead of holidays, events, promotions, and special occasions.
  • Partner with the owners on hiring needs, interviews, and candidate selection.
  • Train and coach employees, assign daily responsibilities, and follow up on performance.
  • Develop dependable shift leads who can oversee the store when the manager is off.
  • Inventory and ordering
  • Oversee receiving, check deliveries against orders, and report shortages, damage, or discrepancies.
  • Ensure deliveries are unpacked, counted, entered into inventory, and stored correctly.
  • Keep backstock organized and shelves, bins, and displays replenished.
  • Place new candy into appropriate bins and displays promptly, with accurate pricing and product information.
  • Conduct inventory counts, monitor freshness, rotate stock, and reduce waste.
  • Order candy, packaging, cleaning products, and other supplies through established purchasing channels within approved budgets.
  • Anticipate stock and supply needs for holidays, events, and busy periods.
  • Store readiness
  • Maintain a clean, organized, welcoming store, including the sales floor, bins, checkout area, storage areas, and employee spaces.
  • Ensure opening, closing, cleaning, and food-handling procedures are completed consistently.
  • Keep the store supplied with everything needed for daily operations.
  • Address maintenance and equipment issues and involve the owners when needed.
  • Sales and customer service
  • Take responsibility for meeting store sales goals, tracking performance, and implementing improvements.
  • Communicate goals and coach the team on product knowledge, attentive service, and relevant product recommendations.
  • Plan displays, inventory, and staffing to support promotions and special occasions.
  • Regularly work the sales floor and register, serve customers, process transactions, and replenish products.
  • Resolve customer concerns professionally.
  • Keep the owners informed about results, staffing needs, and recurring operational issues.

Required qualifications

  • At least 3 years of relevant retail experience, including supervising or leading a team.
  • Experience scheduling employees and managing shift coverage.
  • Strong organization, follow-through, and communication skills.
  • Experience with inventory, replenishment, and ordering.
  • Comfort using point-of-sale, scheduling, inventory, and spreadsheet tools.
  • Ability to coach employees, handle customer concerns, and take responsibility for results.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Reliable commute to Fort Worth.

Preferred qualifications

  • Store Manager or Assistant Store Manager experience.
  • Experience in candy, specialty retail, grocery, or food service.
  • Experience meeting sales goals and managing labor budgets.
  • Familiarity with Homebase scheduling and timekeeping.
